Frequently Asked Questions
Do you have questions about our custom shift knobs? We can help. Below, you can find the most frequently asked questions from our customers.
Can I install a new shift knob on my automatic transmission vehicle?
Whether or not you can install a new shift knob on a car with an automatic transmission depends on each vehicle. Some can, while some cannot. Our aftermarket shift knobs screw on most manual transmission cars. However, if your automatic transmission car's shift knob doesn't thread on and off, you can't replace it. In addition, if your automatic transmission car's shift knob has a button on it, you cannot replace it with one of ours. So, as long as the automatic transmission car's shift lever handle threads off and does not have a button on it, you can install a compatible new shift knob.
What's the difference between billet aluminum and cast aluminum shifter knobs?
Billet aluminum shifter knobs are typically considered stronger knobs than cast aluminum. Billet car parts are made from a single block of material that's machined down to form the design. These billet parts are the most common aftermarket upgrades from the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) due to their increased durability and longevity. Billet aluminum car parts are strong and offer a seamless appearance.
Why should I replace my shift knob?
Replacing your shifter knob is an excellent way for a person to add some of their personality to their car. These shifter knobs come in many different colors, shapes, and styles to match your tastes. However, replacing your shifter isn't just about the look, but also improves how shifting feels. Aside from adding comfort to how the knob feels, the additional weight from the solid aluminum—compared to the lightness of a factory shifter handle—makes shifting gears smoother and easier. So, if you want to make your car more personal, comfortable, and shifting easier, then you should consider replacing your gear shift with one of our custom shift knobs.
Does the size and weight of a shift knob matter?
There is no definitive answer to this question as everyone's preferences will be different. However, many people believe that a racing shift knob can provide a better driving experience by improving the feel and responsiveness of the shifter. This is because a racing shift knob is typically smaller and lighter than a standard shift knob, which can make it easier to shift gears quickly and accurately.
